"Bast" 2006

This image has been exhibited only once. It's unlike most of my work yet such an unusual shadow was worth capturing.

"Bast" was shown as part of a group exhibit. When it was delivered to the gallery the only person who was there at the time loved it ("the best photo here!"), and that was the only opinion about it I've ever heard.

What do you think?

  1. Dennis: I just looked at this for the first time and it is an amazing photo. At first glance I thought it was a mask. Next I thought it was a drawing done with black paint. It wasn't until I really studied it that I realized it is a shadow. How exciting. Has Frank seen this? I bet he would love it as it could also look like one of his monsters!!
Keep up the great work. S.

  2. Dennis,
At first glance I tried to examine the eyes.
It was not a cat or creature to my surprise.

Then my gaze was with a more careful glance.
I see the grasping gate way and that is my stance!

  3. Dennis,

You have great skill with the silver gelatin print. The depth of the darkness, yet white webs barely hold the grey tones in suspension. Not to mention the great design and composition elements. Diagonal veining in the ground are repeated through the shadows. Cool. HD
